ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA – To apply for this award the nominee must live or work in Worcestershire and have completed their apprenticeship by 20th November 2021.

Applications should be completed and submitted by the apprentice themselves. Use plain English and avoid jargon. Apprentices can seek assistance from their employer and Training Organisation to ensure the answers are completed as fully as possible and must include an Employer reference.

What are judges looking for?

Judges are looking for exemplars who showcase the difference they have made to the organisation they work in. Nominations will be scored using the following criteria:

  • Commitment – Demonstrate commitment to your personal development and progression.
  • Contribution – Show outstanding contribution to your workplace – in particular, areas or projects where you have exceeded expectations, examples of how you have made improvements to the business, saved money, improved systems.
  • Success – Demonstrate inspirational levels of achievement and attainment.
  • Achievement – What you have achieved over and above the requirements of your apprenticeship programme.

Worcestershire Apprentice of the Year – Nomination Form 2021
Judges want to understand what your key duties and responsibilities are in the organisation you work for and how you see the apprenticeship benefitting your future career inspirations. A strong entry will include the following: – An outline of your role (including key duties and responsibilities) and how it fits within the organisation. – A description of the team you operate in and your personal contribution to team objectives and performance. – A summary of your personal aspirations and planned career path.
Judges are looking for apprentices that demonstrate exceptional personal qualities and have made significant achievements through their apprenticeship. Try to provide as much evidence as possible (such as feedback from colleagues and examples of ambassadorial activities) to substantiate your answers. A stand-out answer will include the following: – An outline of the skills you have developed since you began your apprenticeship. – How your apprenticeship has impacted on you, especially in terms of your ambitions and motivation. – Why you believe that others can learn from your apprenticeship experiences. – Details of your activities as an ambassador for apprenticeships within or outside of your organisation, eg mentoring apprentices, talking within schools, promoting apprenticeships at events/forums
Judges are looking for apprentices that have made a measurable contribution to the success of their employer. Please provide evidence of the positive impact you have had on your organisation. A robust answer will include the following: The part you have played in your employer’s overall organisational success. – How you have contributed in helping your employer meet their business objectives. – Specific examples and/or measures that demonstrate the impact you have made to the business, for example: details of cost savings you have made, innovations you have developed or new ways of working that you have implemented, introduction of new systems or processes, – Any leadership or supervisory responsibility you may have.
The referee should consider how the apprentice has demonstrated commitment to their own personal development and progression; the benefits they bring to your organisation; any inspirational qualities and outstanding contributions they have made to your business.
