National Apprenticeship Grants for Employers

You can get £1,000 to support your apprentice in the workplace if they fit one of the following criteria:

  • 16 to 18 years old
  • 19 to 25 years old with an education, health and care plan (EHCP)
  • 19 to 25 years old and they used to be in care.

If your apprentice is eligible, your training provider will give you the payment in two instalments of £500. You will get the first payment after 90 days and the second one after a year.

Wychavon District Council Upskilling Grant Scheme

Wychavon District Council have launched an Employer Apprenticeship Grant, which aims to encourage small to medium sized enterprises to employ new apprentices. The Grant will offer between £1000 and £2000 to employers.

Malvern Hills District Council Upskilling Grant Scheme

Malvern Hills District Council is helping local businesses create their workforce of the future through the Upskilling Grant Scheme.

The grant offers funding of up to £1,500 to help with the business cost of training new staff (i.e. apprenticeships, trainee or other). To qualify, the business must be based in the Malvern Hills district postcode area, employ fewer than 250 people and pay at least the Minimum Wage to the trainee for a post of at least 20 hrs a week, including training which must lead to a recognised qualification.

Worcestershire Growth Hub

Inclusive Apprenticeships Support

There is funding available for employers when taking on apprentices with special educational needs and disabilities

  • Employers and providers taking on apprentices aged 19-24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan each receive a payment of £1,000.
  • For employers employing fewer than 50 people, if the apprentice is aged between 19 and 24 years old and has an EHC plan, the government will fund all apprenticeship training costs, up to the maximum value of the funding band for the apprenticeship
